Before I begin to look for manufacturers, I have a question regarding air space between the metal roof and the existing roof. Is there a energy benefit to space the metal roof off of the existing shingles with battens while also using a ridge and eave vent product like cor-a-vent. It would seem that there would be less heat transfer to the house with that vented space. If it is a significant amount then I would look for comanies that recomend that type of installation.

Generally there is and the amount depends on the colour of the roof and your location. The air space must be vented though at the eave and ridge. Certainly we have tested our products at the DOE in Oakridge which showed a 70% reduction and we recommend this type of installation. Check us out at www.duraloc.com

Thanks for your response. I looked at your site and you have some very nice material. Can you give me a general idea of price for the material? I would be interested in your basic line of shingle style and just need a general per sq. ft price. I know you sell thru distributors and there are different factors but I just need to put some basic numbers together to see if this is something I can afford. I plan on doing the installation myself and am also looking at a ribbed panel as well. Thanks
