How is metal roofing installed where there is a rounded portion of the roof as in the roof over a porch on one end of house?

It depends upon the type of metal roof being installed. Many of the shingle style products might handle this easily. In other cases, something may need to be custom-made by an experience roofing contractor or sheet metal company. Todd Miller

Can the shingle type metal products be used in conjunction with sheet roofing products. In other words could you use the shingles around the circle and use sheet products on the remaining roof?

Certainly but there are custom sheet metal shops that make metal roofing to fit round roofs. Try and locate an roofing and sheetmetal shop in your area.
