Greetings,
I was wondering if metal roofing was appropriate in the desert – such as Tucson, Arizona. We have a swamp cooler on our roof and wonder if a metal roof would be far too hot when trying to work on the cooler as well as making the roof too slippery (we have a slight slant but not a full peaked roof on a ranch style house).
Thank you,
Denise

Metal roofing is ideal for the desert, especially if it is installed as a "cool" roof, meaning that either a light color, reflective pigment dark colors, or a form of ventilation is done at the same time.
I would talk to your contractor about ways to create a safe walking area up to the swamp cooler. It should not be difficult.
