When applying metal roofing to a gambrel roof, how do you transition from the upper pitch to the lower pitch sections?

Unfortunately you can not use "metal roofing" in the sma context as "shingles" as there are many differant designs, profiles and application details. Our companies metal panels are designed so that they are site formed to bend backwards of the transition and then continue on or telescope the next course down over and start over. Most of the vertical seam panels need to be terminated then flashed over and separate sheets on the top. Some companies manufacture a transition piece that matches the profiles so it blends in better. The best method is to chose a product and contact the manufacturer. If he doesn't have details then take that as a hint. You can also contact a metal roofing contactor and ask his recommendation and always ask for referrals. A good contractor is always pleased to comply.
