Help, am stationed in Spain and we need to replace an old asbestos roof over our kennels at an animal shelter here.. I cannot use any stateside contractors, but would just like some general advice about what type of roofing: needs to be sturdy enough to withstand high winds and very hard rains and also cool in very hot summer.. plus we are on the atlantic coast, so there are some rusting problems.. the kennels are concrete and fencing and open to weather.. can you use steel roofing on wood supports or does it have to go over metal and concrete??? tks//

If you have aggressive salt spray you should use an aluminum roof as it provides the best resistance and next is a Galvalume steel.. I would use a good finish in white. This will reflect the suns rays out and the paint will emit the balance. Allow for air flow under the metal and you should be fine. Lumber is fine to use.
