Hello, I am looking for a roofing panel that can be used on a 1.75:12 pitch roof. The roof is 25'x55' and the panels will run the 55'. I have been looking around but there seem to be some conflicting suggestions. Do i NEED to use a Standing Seam or can I use a PBR panel and seal the endlaps well? Any suggested materials would greatly be appriceiated. Thank you.

I do not know of any manufacturers of PBR panels who will allow less than 2:12 pitch. There may be some I am unaware of. When looking at required pitches for various products the bets thing you can do is contact the manufacturer tos ee how their product has been designed and tested to be used. There is a genre of mechanically seamed (aka field seamed or double lock or triple lock) standing seam systems designed for low pitch4es like yours. A large commercial roofing contractor or good sized metal specialist should be able to help you. Todd Miller

Thank you for your reply. One of the panels I found : http://www.abcmetalroofing.com/catalogs/PBR/pbr_archInfo.pdf says 1/2":12, so i think those are ok. I was told by one installer that if I used a panel like this with the screws, that the holes the screws made would "egg" becuase of expansion and contraction and the whole roof would leak. Is this really possible? No commercial installers want to talk to us (too small of a job).

I would strongly encourage you to contact ABC and discuss this panel with them. I still stand by my earlier recommendation thatonly a field-seamed or mechanically seamed panel be used on something that low of pitch. As far as fastening holes wallowing out over time, yes, that can be a failure point of a product like this. It would likely take several years for that to happen though. Again, I will suggest you contact ABC and get their input as well. Todd Miller
