I have a very low pitch roof and are wondering if it would be cheaper to change the pitch then put a new one on. Most roofing companies said it would cost about 12,000 can. to put a new roll roof on and it is only good for up to 8 to 10 years. what would be the cost of trusses.

Long term it would be very cost effective for you to change the pitch of the roof and install a metal system. The up-front cost will be higher than rolled roofing, but a metal roof will last over 50 years. Many of the metal systems that are available today are structural, meaning you do not need a plywood deck. There are some metal panel systems that can be attached directly to trusses. I would discuss with a few local contractors the cost of re-pitching your roof. A contractor that builds pole-barns maybe the type of contractor that you should contact. Dick Bus

Low pitched roofs are always a problem with the residential homeowner community. However, there are metal roofing solutions for this.I would suggest that you contact your local roofing contractor and ask for a field locking type system. Some of these systems are capable of slopes down to 1/2" / 12. And as a added benefit look to aluminum as a type of metal for the panel profile.
