I want to put up T&G as a ceiling for my cabin (metal roof) in the Northeast (heated only on weekends by wood stove). Do I need a vapor barrier and/or insulation? I am looking to avoid problems with condensation.

Yes, I would use a vapor bsrrier behind the T & G, insulation on topf of that, a vented airspace, roof decking, underlayment, and roofing. Todd Miller

The roof is already up and builder did not use decking or underlayment (just put purlins on 2x8 rafters.) Should I just go ahead and put in the insulation (any special type?) and vapor barrier, then the T & G? Thanks for your help!

I believe you must have ventilation beneath the roofing followed by insulation and the vapor barrier. I would also check with the roofing manufacturer to see if this installation is correct. Todd Miller
