I will be installing metal sheet roofing over the existing asphalt roofing this spring. When putting down 1x4 strapping previous to install, will I nail or screw it to the existing trusses and between them where the old surface has sagged between the trusses? The trussess are 24 inches apart on center. The new metal roof will be screwed @ 32 inches on center as per manufacturers specs. My home is an older mobile home with a pitched roof installed at a later date over the older flat roof.

I would recommend screwing as you can be sure that you are getting a solid connection and with the least disruction to the existing ceiling. Fastening on 24" centres should be fine.

And what about the existing decking, between the trusses that has sagged a little? Just shim the strapping between the trusses, and secure the strap with screws also?
