I have an old home (late 1800's). The home is completely remodeled except for the attic. It has a metal roof that works fine, but in the cold winter months here in PA the condensation that accumulates on the metal roof is unbelievable. We are trying to 'finish' the attic for a play-space for our children which means we will need to insulate this roof. What is our best option? Will soffits and ridge vent provide enough ventilation to keep condensation from forming once we put up insulation etc to 'finish' the room? any venting ideas to get rid of this condensation would be appreciate
thanks

I would install a complete vapor barrier behind the drywall in the finished room. You can insulate behind that but it is critical that you have at least a 2" gap behind the metal roofing which is ventilated with soffit vents as intake and a ridge vent.
I hope this helps.
