My builder will be using a 26 gauge standing seam metal roof for my new home, with the paint being a Dexstar 950 silicone. I can find no literature on Dexstar 950 though I did find a few references in Google to a Dexstar 850. Is the Dexstar a good product, and did they stop making it and if so any other comments? Thanks.

Dexstart is a mid to upper-mid grade paint system (my opinion) but it is known for having ceramic pigmentation which is good. I believe it is produced by Akzo Nobel.
I appluad you on investigating the paint finish. Please look into the other things which go into creating a quality product and roof including the panel design itself, proper use of it, and proper installation.

I have selected a 24 gauge Kynar standing seam metal roof for my new home. As far as installation, I have read that some are custon cut and fabricated either at the plant or on site to the right lenths. My builder intends to have his roofer cut the lengths on site. Should I insist on the cutting being done by the seller/manufacturer of the product? I am concerned with how even the cuts will be.

The bigger difference is whether they are factory formed or formed on the jobsite. Even factory formed panels usually need to be cut on the jobsite.
Panels are successfully run on jobsites all the time. The important thing is having someone who knows what they are doing running the machine and checking quality.
Also, quality installation is important and you want to know the base metal and coating on the panels, and what sort of warranty you have.
As far as cutting the panels, they need to be cut with a shearing action rather than a saw unless they are a non-ferrous metal.
