We are in the process of adding about 1700 square feet to our home. Part of the remodel/new construction is to have metal roofing put on the existing house as well as the new part...
Our contractor is telling us that the new construction part does not need any plywood or felt. It is put directly on the trusses. Is this right?
Please advise!! We are worried that there are corners being cut.....

Some metal roof systems can be installed that way although, particularly for residential installations, many manufacturers do suggest decking and underlayment. In either case, a vapor barrier, attic insulation, and attic ventilation are important.
Inquire with the manufacturer of your roofing as to the best application for your home. You are doing the right thing by checking into this issue.
