I have a home app.4yr old with a metal roof. The house was app.2yr old when I bought it. I didn't notice it last winter, but this year when we have a frost the inside of roof sheets witch drips as the frost melts. The metal sheets are screwed straight to the rafters. There is a ridge cap. Also to round vents at each end of the house in the wall app.14" dia. All of the ribs are exposed to the outside. The ceiling is app.12' tall from the floor of the attic. With rolled insulation under 3/4 plywood. Do I need some sort of fans to help circulate the air? There is no sign of mold/mildew and no stale smell. My concern is my rafters roting.

You need additional / different ventilation. The goal would be to continually "bathe" the bottom side of the roofing with airflow. This would best be achieved by soffit vents for intake and ridge vent for exhaust. I would close off the gable vents once this is done. Todd Miller

Thakns for the info. I did not give you enough info. The roof has a soffit, plenty of air flow. I think I know the problem. I have 2 bathroom vent fans. That vent into the attic. I'm going to try venting them outside and see if that works. Thanks for the advise and anymore you might have. Paul
