I have been in the process of getting a estimate. The last gentlemen I spoke to said that my old roof of asphalt shingles the metal could go directly on top of it. The new structure is a gambrel roof and the roof has 2x4 stripping every approx. 2 feet with foam insulation between the 2x4 the length of the roof. He said I would not need bubble-pack or insulation over it any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

It is always a good practice to askk the manufacturer and ask toi see their product approval report. Please appreciate that there are may issue that may be required by the building code such as ventilation, fire, wind, rain, hail etc, which will dictate how it should be applied. Certainly the building code calls for underlayment to be used. If you install directly over with a vertical rib panel, there will be a tendancy for the shingles to telegraph through over time. Installing an underlay certainly helps.
