While talking to a builder, he made the comment that having dormers with a metal roof is asking for leaks, We are in the desgining stages of building a home. Is there any special requirments when planning for dormers and a metal roof.

Here are some keys:
1) Choose a metal roof that is appropriate for the design, style, construction, and roof pitch of the home.
2) Hire an experienced installer with a proven track record.
3) Ensure that factory-formed installation procedures are followed and factory-formed accessories are installed.
4) Ensure that the walls on the dormers are flashed before the siding or stucco is applied to them.
