All metal roofs have a warenty of at least 30 years--reguarldess of the thickness of the metal. We have had several conflicting messages from several contractors on guage. Is 29 guage appropriate for a residentual structure or do we need to go thicker? We live in SW West Virginia. Judy [email protected]

Judy, gauge is only one function of ultimate performance. Product design and proper installation play big roles as well. Certainly, though, 29 gauge is on the lighter end for most vertical seam products.
Generally, extra metal thickness does result in longer life.
