Metal roof on balcony?

My house has a balcony, the floor of which is a roof to the area below. Normal roofing materials (asphalt shingle sheet, rubber, etc.) will not hold up to walking, table/chair legs, etc. Is metal roofing a good alternative for this area? Something like diamondpoint might work well, but wouldn't look very good. I'm not sure what the best way is to roof this area. Thanks.

Specially crafted metal panel roof with soldered flat seams would work well. This is something that you would have to hire a local sheet metal shop or commercial roofing contractor to do. Todd Miller
