I live in a historic home and am considering purchasing a stainless steel Terne coated standing seam roof for the front porch roof. The job is pretty straight forward (long straight runs) and not any valleys etc. I have a contractor that is qualified to install typical standing seam metal roof and has done a good job with these, however he has never installed a Terne metal roof. Is there a difference in the installation from a standard standing seam metal roof? If so what is the biggest difference? Finally, is it something that he could do or should I get someone that has worked with Terne before. Again, I trust his craftsmanship, and it is a straightforward front porch job. Thanks for your advice in this matter. Eric Vinson

Are you talking about a pre-formed terne roof or one where he would be hand-forming the panels? A pre-formed product will not be much different from what he has installed in the past. Hand-forming the roof, though, is a different matter. Todd Miller
