hi,great site! we are considering a metal roof as a part solution for a condensation problem in the attic of a low slope addition to a mobile home. due to the minimum air space in the attic, there is a problem with frost melting when the temperature rises in the spring. it has been suggested that putting a metal roof over the asphalt shingle one with an airspace of 6 inches,or using 2x6's for new rafters would give enough of an air barrier to keep the two temperature extremes from creating condensation in the attic. if it could be the solution, what type of venting procedure should be used with the new metal roof?

I am not entirely certain I understand your situation but it does sound like a situation where having ventilation would help. Proper ventilation requires intake (usually soffit vents) and exhaust (usually ridge vents).
Quality residential metal roofs will come with something in terms of a ridge vent option.
