I want to remove my office awning cloth canopy and replace it with vertical metal roof panels. Is it o.k. to just screw the panels into the existing rigid metal pipe frame?

Yes, there are some panels which can be installed in this manner. You need to look for panels which are "structura;" meaning that they do not need to have decking beneath them, and panels which have watertight seams. Use this website to look for "vertical seam panels" that you like and then inquire with the manufacturers as to whether they will work for your application. Many comemrcial chains, such as Walgreens, are starting to use standing seam panels on their awnings so you are very much in line with the times! Todd Miller
