We are considering putting a metal roof on our moble home over the shingle roof. I am concerned about it holding the weight of the metal .Our home is 11yrs old.We are considering the r-panels. What advise can you give us.Should we remove shingles before we put on the new roof.

You probably can go over the old shingles but use a quality underlayment over them. Check with the R panel manufacturer and make sure they are okay with this. As far as weightload, metal roofing is pretty low weight -- probably about 80 pounds per 100 square feet for what you're looking at. You may want to go back to the home manufacturer and see what they say though. You do need to know the pitch of your current roof and make sure that is acceptable for the R panel. Todd Miller
