Vents? after converting flatroof to pitched with metal, is it necessary to vent all of the bathroom vents both 2" and 4 " pipes?
Since the 4" are the access for "snaking" lines if clogged, I know they should be vented. BUT, the small 2" vents for sinks and tubs, can they remain unvented into the "attic"?

Plumbing vents are required (by plumbing codes)chiefly to prevent siphoning and other undesirable actions within the drainage system. However, they provide a direct unobstructed path to the sewer system and its attendant gasses and smells. All vents must be conducted to the outside where gasses can be dissipated. If the smaller vents are in close proximity to the larger main vent, they may be connected within the attic space to the larger line (with proper fittings and graded at a minimum of 1/4 inch per foot). That solution, if feasible , would still provide only one roof penetration.
