I am in the process of rebuilding an 1870's barn that I dismantled ( numbered all beams, posts, joists and sheathing boards) and am stuck on finding a good installation instruction set. I planned to use 2x4 purlins and attach directly to them. Ridge vent is screwed through the panels to the first level of purlins. Sound OK?

This is reasonable provided the following:
I would have a vapor barrier on the house side of any insulation.
Make sure that a vented airgap is maintained between insulation and the roofing, with soffit intake and ridge exhaust.
Make certain (100%) that the roofing manufacturer is agreeable to an installation on lathe boards of this nature for a residential roof. (Obtaining this may not be easy.)
