Hurricane Damage-Temporary Tarping

Last hurricane season my home...with a metal roof...was damaged. Temporary tarping was installed and the screws used to hold the tarp down created additional holes...more damage. With the Hurricane season starting quickly... I would like to know what the best practice should be in securing this tarping so as not to create more damage.

The best thing might be to cover the roof with a quality self-adhering underlayment. It is hard to keep tarps weathertight for a long period.
