I have a 6/12 metal roof. It needs to be replaced. May I go right over it with metal or do I need to remove existing metal and go down to sheathing. Existing sheathing is skipped 1x6.
Thanks

Therer are some systems for metal over metal. A product called Roofhugger is one. But those systems are generally for commercial application.
In all practicality, the existing metal probably should be removed.
Many of today's residential metal roofs, though, require solid decking rather than spaced sheathing.
Choose a product that you like and then make sure that it is being installed per manufacturer instructions.
