I am looking at reroofing with a steel roof but am concerned about the 3/4 in ridge, I asume it is for ventalation. I have many bats birds bees ants that want to live in the trim of my log house will this just be another place to try to keep them out of? Diane

A properly installed and designed metal roof should not have voids / openings which might harbor animals or insects. For example, even a vented ridge should have some sort of vented closure but then, if necessary, additional mesh or other material behind that to keep critters out. Todd Miller
