I live roughly 900 feet from the gulf of mexico and am looking to put a new "key west' (painted silver or galvalume finish)style standing seam metal (locking panel) roof. While I do not live directly on the beach (no salt spray), I do live in the "salt air" environment. Given the sunny, salty environment, what would be the best out of the following?
24 or 26 gauge Galvalume (ASTM A792)with acryllic clear coat.
24 or 26 gauge Galvalume (ASTM A792)with
painted silver kynar 500 finish.
32 gauge alluminum painted with kynar finish.
Also, if I chose the cheaper galvalume with clear coat - what would the finish look like in 15-20 years? All of the above quotes are within $2k. Thanks for your expert advice!

I am assuming you mean .032" aluminum, not 32 gauge.
There are other factors which go into making a quality product such as engineered design and proper installation. However, just looking at metals, the aluminum will likely be most durable and the clear coated galvalume will be least.
I am guessing, though, that in 15 - 20 years in your environment, both galvalume products will be showing some corrosion. Certainly, the clear coated product could shown the most.
I would suggest checking with the roofing manufacturers about their warranty for your job, looking at past jobs they have done, checking references on the installer, etc.
All Best.

MRA is an association of metal roofing manufacturers. We do not "rate" products. However, in reviewing products for an application like yours, I would look at their rust resistance (and warranty), wind resistance, and aesthetics.
