Could you tell me what the minimum pitch on a standing seam roof safely would be? We are doing a residential project where we would like a minimal pitch. Thanks for your help.

There are many different styles of standing seam. Generally, though, most systems best-suited for residential use require at least a 3:12 pitch. However, there are standing seam systems, especially those used on industrial buildings, suitable for roof pitches as low as 1/4:12. Do not ever use a roofing product at a pitch lower than the minimum pitched required by its manufacturer. Todd Miller

Taylor Metal says their standing seam with Easy Lock is OK for 1/2:12. Doesn't look much different from other brands. Are they on to something?

I visited their website and looked at the Easy Lock panel. There is some uniqueness to it which I am sure supports that low of a minimum pitch. I would ask them for any tests results they have as well as to speak with past customers. Keep in mind that Easy Lock does not install with clips so it is limited in terms of its allowance for expansion and contraction -- proper fastener placement will be critical. Thanks for calling this panel to my attention. I appreciate it! Todd Miller
