WE ARE GOING TO INSTALL A STANDING METAL ROOF, MOST CONTRACTORS ARE GIVING PRICES USING PANELS AND ONE CONTRACTOR WILL CUSTOM FORM FROM POINT TO POINT RIGHT AT THE SITE. WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF BOTH TYPES OF INSTALATIONS. WE ALSO HAVE A LARGE PART OF THE ROOF WITH A 1/4" SLOPE. THANKS

The low slope area requires a special type of standing seam panel which would be seamed in the field, on the jobsite. Make sure that the panel being installed is intended for that low pitch. Regarding manufacturer-formed vs field-formed ... generally, a manufacturing facility provides a more stable environment where machines are kept well adjusted and in order. some of that can be lost with site formers. However, the bog things to look at are regardless of where the panels are made -- look at paint finish type quality and warranty, base metal type and grade and thickness, and the profile of the roofing panels as well as what tests they have passed. Also check to ensure quality installation. Todd Miller
