I"d like to know if long vertical panels that run from ridge to eave are better than the smaller panels that I find that go across the roof. Also do you know of any manufacturer of long panels that look like slate, shakes or shingles. I know Met-tile makes panels up to 20 ft. that look like mexican tile and they are listed to withstand winds of over 200 mph. This is the highest wind rating that I can find, so it makes me wonder if these long panels are better that the shorter ones. Thanks

There are several companies that manufacture tile profiles in continuous eave to ridge sheets. Other than tile profile, the other thing would be standing seam panels.
However, long panels vs smaller interlocking panel is really not a gauge of quality. Metal roofing durability, wind resistance, and other benefits come from engineering, base metal, coating, proper installation, and other things.
There are many metal roofs of all types which have passed the UL 580 and 1897 uplift tests which simulate wind speeds greater than 200 mph.

Alright, so what are some of the companies? That is what I was asking and needing help with. I've searched and searched and have only found one company and they won't sell to the general public, only contractors. Thank You

Hi Susan,
Sorry, I thought your question was more about the difference between long and short panels. Companies producing continuous (long) panel tile profile products include ATAS (Accel), Metal Sales Mfg, Met-Tile, Galvamet, and Scandinavian Profiling. There are probably some others as well that I cannot think of right off hand. You can check with any companies listed on this site for tile profiles.
I do not know that anyone will sell these panels direct to the public though. Handling and installing these panels is not easy. You akmost need a forklift for offloading them. Also, when installing these panels, you have to be very careful on panels which need to be cut. Mis-cutting a panel will be very costly.
