I have a question on where to screw through the metal when attching to the roof. I have had half the people say one way half say the other. The lady at the surplus metal sotre said to screw on the the flat part of the metal between the ridges, and so have a few others. Also quit a few people told me to put the screws on the ridges them self because the metal is stronger there and in the winter if the screws are on the flat part it will cause the snow and ice to hang up. Please help me with this problem.

Well we always suggest contacting the manufacturer of the metal and get their recommendations. Basically it is dependant on roof slope and sheet length. The longer the sheets the more thermal expansion and the more it will work around the screws. Hence they should be put in the ribs. Shorter sheets may be screwed in the pan near the ribs but driving the screw is now more critical and if you overtighten or do not tighten enough, you will be more prone to leaks.
