Why can't economy galvanized 5V be used on homes?

I recently read that economy 5V galvanized metal roofing is not recommended for homes. My wife and I like the style of this roofing and do not mind rust since our home is rustic. I would also assume that the cost is less than 26 or 29 gauge products. We are not concerned about a 20-30 year warranty either.

If you understand the limitations of this type of product (and it sounds like you do), it can be used residentially. Make sure that you are installing it in accordance with the manufactuirer's instructions for residential application. Todd Miller

Are there alternatives that would have that look - Like an agricultural panel with v-grooves, that would be suitable for residential use? I see galvanized panels that sell at Home Depot and Lowes but I am concerned about using it on a house since it seems like it may rust in a few years. Is there something with this (V-groove panel) look, rather than the look of standing seam, that has a longer expected lifespan?

No. but there are different base metals and coatings available some of which are higher quality than others. Todd Miller
