I have a galvanized metal roof that is 20 years old. It is silver in color, never painted. I would like to paint it a color. I live in the Florida Keys, in a salt air area. Can I paint over the original roof. If so, what type of paint would I use? What would be the process, and where could I buy the paints, and or primers? Thank You, David

You should clean the roof very well, apply a high quality primer and let it dry, then a high quality top coat.
One primer I am aware of is Sherwin William's ProCryl.
Most of the major paint brands will have a paint system designed for repainting metal building products.
The highest quality top coat would be an air-dry Kynar / Hylar formulation. This sort of system could be obtained through most metal roofing manufacturers. It is expensive though -- expect something in the neighborhood of $300 per gallon.
