Could you please tell me if there are advantages to painted 26 gauge panels over Galvalume? Does the Galvalume stain or rust sooner?

Galvalume is a metal. It is carbon steel coated both sides with an alloy of aluminum and zinc. The aluminum / zinc coating helps provide corrosion resistance to the metal. Galvalume is used as roofing in three ways: 1) No coating 2) A clear acylic coating 3) A colored paint finish Colored paint finishes are available in several qualities with Kynar / Hylar generally being recognized as the most fade and chalk resistant. Other metals are also available in colors -- galvanized steel (steel with a zinc / aluminum coating) and aluminum. Metals like stainless steel, copper, and zinc are available without any finish. I hope that this helps explain the differences between products you may be considering. Look at warranties, look at manufacturers, look at past jobs, look at installers. And, remember, as with many things in life, you get what you pay for. Todd Miller
