When 30# felt goes on top of shingles do they nail it on with the same nailing pattern as bare ply or does it only need to be tacked on with a few nails because it's realy only a separation sheet?

Generally, the felt manufacturers seem to recommend to using as few fasteners as possible. However, if it is going to be exposed to the weather for any time, it will need more fasteners to keep it from blowing up and tearing. Also, for stability and safety, more fasteners will be needed on steeper roofs as well. Todd Miller
