I am building a new home in n/w louisiana and planning on istalling a standing seam metal roof but after reading the complaints on condensation,I am now having second thoughts, would hate to pay more than double what a coventional roof cost only to have moisture damage. The shell is built like a commercial metal building, I beam rafters w/8" Z purlins,24"o.c.Was planning on installing blanket insulation, then installing the panels. Will have soffit, gable and ridge vents.Do not want the added expense of roof decking for this approx.7500sf. roof, and is not required for these panels,Can I prevent condensation?,if so, how? Thanks for any info.

You will want to have an ai (vapor) barrier beneath (on the bottom "house" side) of the insulation. You also need to make sure that you have at least a 1", preferably more, clear vented airspace beneath the roofing. Also, you must make sure that the manufacturer of the roofing is okay with the application you're proposing -- call them up and talk to them. I think you will find them to be very helpful. If not, look for another manufacturer. Todd Miller
