I recently asked a contractor for a quote, one of the selling points he quoted was that he installed his fastners on the rib rather than in the valley using R panel. He said that the roof was less likely to leak using this method, please give opinion

The only answer to this question can come from the manufacturer of the roofing. You need to know how their product has been tested and how they want it to be installed and fastened. I cannot answer your question and run the risk of going against what the manufacturer says. Todd Miller
