I have a section of roof that is appr. a 12x1.5 pitch due to remodeled expansion. This section is tied into a hip-roof. I also have a large skylight on the area that I am cosidering a steel roof. Can this work ? Is there a special flashing kit for the skylight? The skylight raises about 6" above roof grade.

Manufacturers of quality residential roofing should have prescribed flashing details for skylights. The skylight should be up on a curb, as you have described. The exact flashing method, though, will be determined by the exact profile of metal roofing you choose. Todd Miller
