I am budgeting a major renovation and new home construction project. I currently live in a combination configuration that has traditional roofing and metal roofing with over 2200 sqft of metal. I am leaning strongly toward metal yet want to have solar photo-voltaic capabilities. If you have a product that can accomplish that feature please let me know. If not, it is time to design the metal roof with these important improvement. This is the wave of the future, and for me to build now in 2005 and not consider energy effiency and savings by using solar. I would be very foolish. Please send me some intelligent answers or future considerations. Thank You.

We are an association. I can say that there are a number of our member manufacturers that have been working with solar people however integral ones are too cost prohibitive however there are a number that are approved to mount on the roof. I can say that our industry has been busy with Energy Star approved roofing products to help keep buildings cooler and use less energy.
