I am building a pool house and have requested a metal roof. The contractor wants to put a roof that is similar to a older mobile home where there is only a slight pitch to the roof and he is suggesting to lay the metal roofing horizonial. In my mind I feel the roofing should be layed veritical so the water and leaves could run off. So please tell me does it matter which way the metal is placed? Thank you so much for your advice. The majority of metal roofing panels lay vertical. However, many are designed to lay horizontal. It is critical that the product be installed per manufacturer specifications. Do not let your contractor go buy some vertical roofing panels at the local home center and install them horizontally. Improperly installed metal roofing will not perform properly. Find some products on this website that you like and then get information on them, including installation information, and take that information to your contractor.
