We have a standing seam metal roof that has ridge venting & continuous soffit vents. However inside the attic the ridge vent is not visible. The roofing board below the metal roof appears to be continuos from lower roof edge to the inside ridge. Is this correct? How should it appear inside the attic? Many thanks.

There should be a hole cut in the ridge of about 3 - 4" width. When you look up into that hole, you should see the inside / underside of whatever vent is installed. Todd Miller

Hi, Wanted to know if the average layperson could see if on items on a roof job were complete? Those items being: 1)Installation of a vent-a-sure Ridge vent? 2)Installation of an Ice and Water Shield? Could you please respond to [email protected]? Thank you! Ellen

The apperance of the vent from the interior would be dictated by the type of system above. If the metal roof has been installed directly to the substrate ("roofing boards") and venting the attic space is the objective, than you should see the gap metioned by Mr. Miller. If the metal roof was installed with an air space between the substrate and the underside of the panels, and preventing condensation and protecting the roof panel was the objective, then no gap would be present. If your not sure what condition you have under the panel, check the vent condition at the eave and gable ends. This will give you a good idea where the air was meant to come in, and, go out.
