I am wondering what the most appropriate metal roof style will be for an older Texas home. The house is a historic lanmark built in 1880 and the contractor thinks that a metal roof will be the best material for roof replacement. The house currently has a composition roof over older wooden shake shingles. He is advising that we pull off all the old roofing material, believing that the shake shingles have become brittle with age.

As a manufacturer of a metal shake roof I am partial to advising on doing both. Put metal on with a wood shake look.
Go to our photo section on the web site and have a look. Being from Texas make sure you choose a syatem that is Class 4 hail rated which will provide insurance discounts for you.
