Can you tell me what the insurers and firefighters think/recommend as far as metal roofing goes?

I cannot speak for everyone. However, many insurance companies in hail-prone states provide discounts to homeowners who purchase many types of metal roofing. I have also anecdotally heard they may start looking at metal for its wind resistance as well. As far as firefighters, I have heard of numerous instances where they have been suggesting metal roofing for its fire resistance.
