I would like to know if you can instal metal shake system on 1x6 planks spaced every 6 inches onmy home. This construction system was used under my existing wood shingle roofing. The plywood sheeting that is needed for the fiberglass shingles ads additional cost and at this time plywood is very expensive. Thanks for any info.

This is possible with many of the systems if the old wood shingles are left in place. If the old shingles are removed, additional lumber may be necessary. Even if left in place, some systems would install battens on top of the wood shingles and then attact to those. Contact the manufacturers of products you like and make this inquiry direct with them so they can let you know the answer as it pertains to their particular product lines.
