As an association we are limited in our comments about warranties. The proof of wind resistance is in testing not warranties. I can say that the severe wind areas require that two wind tests be completed on products. It is called a UL580 and a UL1897. The 580 takes a 10 ft square roof section in a chamber and alternately cycles vacumn and air pressure to the top and bottom for a period. Then the 1897 vacumns the top untill the roof fails. This is to mirror the wind effect in Hurricanes where it slowly builds cycled pressure that can loosen the roof materials and then takes them to failure. This provides a wind design load pressure. Generally the codes then take a 2/1 safety factor and the high wind areas of Florida as example requre a wind design load for 130mph. How the two relate is up to engineers but generally speaking a 100mph wind exerts 31.5 psf of pressure so one needs to have close to 40 psf at a 2/1 safety factor. When choosing a product ask to see their product approval reports. Our main products as example have a 61.34 psf design load at a 2/1 safety factor. In the end it still requires a competant installation so choose a contractor carefully.
