Having just gone through 4 hurricanes, we need a new roof. What gauge do you recommend, 24 or 26? Also, which style holds up better to hurricane strength winds? I am referring to either the overlapping or the screws. We will be using the 3 foot panels. Thanks !!

Panel configuration and fastening also play roles -- it is about much more than just metal thickness.
24 gauge is heavier and, yes, that can be a factor.
Look for products that have passed substantial uplift testing.
Also, make sure that the product is being installed with the same fastener type, quantity, and spacing as was used when the product was uplift tested.
