I will be having a metal roof installed over asphalt shingles. I have heard pros and cons over standing seam vs screwdown. Which do you suggest? Thank you for your help Kenneth

As an association representing manufacturers of all types of metal roofing, we believe that all metal roofing offers good value to property owners. One beauty of metal roofing is the wide variety of product types and styles. There is also a wide price range. The price of these products is realted to such things as metal thickness and quality, coating type and quality, amount of metal in the product, and manufacturing time. I am not being critical of lower cost metal roofing when I say this because I believe in all metal roofing but, as is the case with most items, the ranges of price and quality tend to coincide with each other. I believe that most manufacturers of through-fastened and standing seam products will concur that that a good standing seam's system of allowing for expansion and contraction, as well as the lack of exposed fasteners, are very good things.
