I am looking at a batten type metal roof on a 6/12 pitch that is literally sliding off the building. There is a gap of 18 inches from the ridge cap to the metal panels. I think the fastening was done improperly. This roof is only 9 months old. What else could cause this problem. Snow load, etc.

If the roof covering is sliding down the roof then obvious something was done improperly. More than likely the strapping was not fastened into the structure correctly or alternately there has been occasions where the installers forgot to fasten a few concealed fastening panels and they slid down. If you sent a photo directly to my email address ([email protected]), I could comment further.
