Is one style (e.g., vertical panel) of metal roof better to use when the roof pitch is low (in this case 3:12) than another?

Yes, there are a number of considerations. Fit for use. Choose a style and contact the manufacturer. They should have a product approval report issued by one of the building code groups for residential which will explain its limitations, how to fasten etc. Make sure you buy roofing profiles not siding as the joints are differant. This product approval will dictate how low a slope it can go. Finish. make sure you investigate the paint system. We recommend a PVDF or a SMP system as minimum. MCA has a certification program on this which includes the proper substrate. Make sure the base metal is minimum G90 for painted and AZ50 for bare.
