Outfitted in Ebony: Texas Home Takes Top Honors In MRA’S Best Residential Metal Roofing Competition

Best Metal Roofing Project Winner PORTLAND, Ore.—First abandoned and then transformed into a beauty: A lovely lake house renovation near Dallas, Texas has been named the winner of the Metal Roofing Alliance’s (MRA) Best Residential Metal Roofing Project competition for the first quarter of 2022.

The 2,300 square foot home located on Cedar Creek Lake didn’t always look like a top award contender. The home had sat abandoned and vacant for more than seven years, requiring a great deal of work both inside and out to bring it back to life. Wanting a crisp, clean look, the new owner chose a handsome all black exterior for the remodel of this stunning home–from the windows and exterior siding to the new metal roof. The sleek new standing seam roof, made from 24-gauge, 21-inch steel coil provided by MRA member McElroy Metal and installed by GreenLeaf Roofing of Plano, Texas is the crowning touch on the project.

“Being an A-frame, the roofline of this home is definitely a major focal point,” said Renee Ramey, MRA executive director. “Frankly, no other roofing material could have delivered the beautiful solid color style the homeowner wanted for this project, or the long-lasting, low maintenance benefits that a quality metal roof will deliver.”

With the first 2022 quarterly winner selected, the 2022 Q-2 competition for MRA’s Best Residential Metal Roofing competition is now underway. The quarterly competition is open to all homeowners as well as builders, contractors and roofing installers in the U.S. and Canada (where allowable) who believe their metal roof project is the best based on either performance, style or both. The MRA is offering a $300 cash prize to each quarter’s winner and will showcase them in the organization’s marketing efforts.
